Measuring Guide for Compression Stockings

Measuring your legs for compression stockings, support socks, support hose, and gradient compression hosiery:.

  • For knee-highs: measure around your ankle and calf. Then, measure the distance from the floor to the back of your knee.
  • For thigh-high and pantyhose: measure around your ankle, calf, and upper thigh. Then, measure the distance from the floor to your upper thigh (bottom of your buttocks).

An Important Measuring Tip...
If swelling is an issue with you, measure your legs, first thing in the morning, after you get out of bed. This is when swelling is at a minimum, and the size of your legs should remain once the swelling is eliminated. Each of our compression products has a sizing chart on the product page.

Measure around the ankle at the narrowest point, generally above the ankle bone.
Measure around the calf muscle at the widest part.
Measure from the floor to the bend behind the knee.
Measure around the thigh approx. 3" below the gluteal fold (crease of buttocks).
Measure the distance from the bottom of your buttocks to the floor.

Sizes may differ between various brands of support stockings. Keep in mind that each manufacturer of support hose has their own sizing chart. A medium size in one brand of circulation stockings, may not be a medium in another. Some brands of compression stockings offer petite (shorter) lengths, while others do not. Knowing your measurements will ensure you get compression hosiery that fits properly and comfortably.

I looked the internet over for simple, but sheer compression hosiery that actually worked, and after many failed attempts, I settled on these. Seams in stockings have always bothered me, and it was great to find that these didn't have any.

I have no complaints about these compression stockings whatsoever. I wear them a lot and they are very helpful to me.

Everyone has their preferences when it comes to support stockings, but I settled on these. I can't give any specific reasons that make them different from other stockings, I just know that they are comfortable, and that they work for me.

Personally, these are the easiest compression hose I've ever put on, and yes, I've had to put on a lot of different kinds for my DVT. I highly recommend these.

These are my stockings of choice! They're great, and they come with my highest recommendation!
