Measuring Guide for Compression Stockings

Measuring your legs for compression stockings, support socks, support hose, and gradient compression hosiery:.

  • For knee-highs: measure around your ankle and calf. Then, measure the distance from the floor to the back of your knee.
  • For thigh-high and pantyhose: measure around your ankle, calf, and upper thigh. Then, measure the distance from the floor to your upper thigh (bottom of your buttocks).

An Important Measuring Tip...
If swelling is an issue with you, measure your legs, first thing in the morning, after you get out of bed. This is when swelling is at a minimum, and the size of your legs should remain once the swelling is eliminated. Each of our compression products has a sizing chart on the product page.

Measure around the ankle at the narrowest point, generally above the ankle bone.
Measure around the calf muscle at the widest part.
Measure from the floor to the bend behind the knee.
Measure around the thigh approx. 3" below the gluteal fold (crease of buttocks).
Measure the distance from the bottom of your buttocks to the floor.

Sizes may differ between various brands of support stockings. Keep in mind that each manufacturer of support hose has their own sizing chart. A medium size in one brand of circulation stockings, may not be a medium in another. Some brands of compression stockings offer petite (shorter) lengths, while others do not. Knowing your measurements will ensure you get compression hosiery that fits properly and comfortably.

It's not often that you find circulation stockings as diverse as these, and they're actually the only socks I wear. It's been that way for 4 years now. I also appreciate that this store always has them in stock.

I actually wear these to the office on a regular basis. They are really versatile, and they look great too.

I am pleasantly surprised to say that these are the most comfortable pair of socks I've ever owned. Whoever they have over there designing these things are doing truly amazing work!

This product is actually true to how it is described. It's soft durable cotton, and they are great for reinvigorating my often tired legs.

I purchased these socks to wear on two 13 hour flights. After the first wearing I washed them in cold water and hung them up to dry. They appear to have lost all of their compression! They look fine but are no more supportive than regular knee socks.
