Measuring Guide for Compression Stockings

Measuring your legs for compression stockings, support socks, support hose, and gradient compression hosiery:.

  • For knee-highs: measure around your ankle and calf. Then, measure the distance from the floor to the back of your knee.
  • For thigh-high and pantyhose: measure around your ankle, calf, and upper thigh. Then, measure the distance from the floor to your upper thigh (bottom of your buttocks).

An Important Measuring Tip...
If swelling is an issue with you, measure your legs, first thing in the morning, after you get out of bed. This is when swelling is at a minimum, and the size of your legs should remain once the swelling is eliminated. Each of our compression products has a sizing chart on the product page.

Measure around the ankle at the narrowest point, generally above the ankle bone.
Measure around the calf muscle at the widest part.
Measure from the floor to the bend behind the knee.
Measure around the thigh approx. 3" below the gluteal fold (crease of buttocks).
Measure the distance from the bottom of your buttocks to the floor.

Sizes may differ between various brands of support stockings. Keep in mind that each manufacturer of support hose has their own sizing chart. A medium size in one brand of circulation stockings, may not be a medium in another. Some brands of compression stockings offer petite (shorter) lengths, while others do not. Knowing your measurements will ensure you get compression hosiery that fits properly and comfortably.

I enjoy these in the "men's dress socks" version. They feel just like standard dress socks, but I know they're giving me the support I need. You see, my legs are constantly swelling, and I'm always in horrible pain, but I can sit in comfort in my desk chair, without them bothering me!

I never take these stockings for granted - I wear them pretty much everywhere, and I was surprised to find that they even work well wearing them to formal occasions. I don't think anybody is aware that I'm wearing them for medical purposes.

By the look of these stockings, they don't seem like they'd be that comfortable, but they are honestly the most comfortable stockings I've ever worn. I love them.

If you want a simple, but incredibly comfortable and effective stocking, go with these, trust me, you won't be disappointed. I'm definitely not, at least.

What I like most about these is that they actually stop in place on my legs! For a while there I was beginning to doubt if a compression stocking could actually do that. I will continue to buy these, for sure.
